Skydive 3rd July – Kidney Research UK

On the 3rd July, I am skydiving to raise money for Kidney Research UK. It’s a charity that means a lot to me and my family that has a mission to carry on doing ground-breaking research to develop effective treatments and save lives. 

Why I’m jumping out of a plane for Kidney Research UK…

I’m doing this because I feel I have to.

I want to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity. I myself suffer with APKD (polycystic Kidney disease) and each day I feel pains amongst other things. I got diagnosed when I was 29 and already my function has dropped. 

But, it’s my dad who I’m doing this for. He was my inspiration and the person who I looked up to in life. He had APKD then in to renal failure. 14 October last year dad lost his fight with this disease and all the other ailments that he had. He attended dialysis 3 times a week, put up with so much pain and missed out on so much due to Ill health. He was a fantastic dad to me and I will love him always. 

It’s about beating the disease to kidneys though. I have this as it’s hereditary  but I don’t want my children to suffer nor anybody else. Right now there’s nothing really to treat APKD apart from transplants and dialysis when the kidney function is ultra low. 

Let’s all do our bit and make treatments better for the future.
